During routine assessments on Halomi Street, Budapest, significant deterioration was observed along the pipeline‘s internal surface. This was caused by prolonged exposure to aggressive wastewater originating from the upstream regional sewer network. The resulting corrosion had led to advanced material degradation, compromising structural integrity and increasing the risk of operational failure. In response to these findings, Fővárosi Csatornázási Művek Zrt. sought a comprehensive rehabilitation solution in collaboration with SEKISUI Rib Loc Australia‘s European distributor SEKISUI CHEMICAL GmbH. The objective was to ensure the long-term integrity of this critical infrastructure by restoring its functionality and preventing future degradation.
The project‘s primary challenges arose from the pipeline’s location beneath a busy, high-capacity roadway. As traditional methods would have necessitated extensive traffic disruptions and road closures, a fully trenchless rehabilitation solution was essential to maintain operational continuity and minimize surface impact. SEKISUI Rib Loc Australia‘s spirally wound pipe rehabilitation technology aligned perfectly with these requirements. Consequently, the client, and our regional distributor, SEKISUI CHEMICAL GmbH, selected SPR®RO / Rotaloc® as the ideal solution.
SPR®RO technology, incorporating the Rotaloc® spirally wound system by RIB LOC®, fully satisfied all structural, operational, and environmental requirements defined for the rehabilitation works. Recognized for its proven reliability and suitability for complex site conditions, SPR®RO / Rotaloc® provides a robust, close-fit structural renewal solution without the need for surface excavation or demolition.
The project was completed within a compressed timeline, with the installation adhering strictly to all relevant technical specifications and regulatory requirements. SPR®RO / Rotaloc® delivered a rapid trenchless installation solution that re-established the pipeline‘s integrity, while ensuring long-term performance and minimal environmental impact.
